Between Earth and Sky

Between Earth and Sky

Havana, Cuba

The immersive installation “Between Earth and Sky” was initiated in collaboration with Argentinian dancer Maria Eugenia Aquerman, as we were teamed up during the XIth International Dance Meeting “Habana Vieja, Ciudad en Movimiento” in Havana, Cuba. The creative process later evolved in the architectural space of Montreal’s creative centre the Gesù - Centre de créativité.

The outcome, an immersive and interactive installation made of video, spacialized quadraphonic sound and motion caption, was triggered by the visitors as they wandered about within the ephemeral space. As a result, an unexpected musical composition emerged from the visitors displacements.

The project evolved with the special collaboration of electroacoustic composer Cléo Palacio-Quintin and the artist Etienne Grenier, motion caption and max/msp.
